Wallace Falls State Park located right off highway 2 in the city of Gold Bar. This hike provides views of the Wallace River and the surrounding falls on a relatively low difficulty, scenic 5.6 mile round-trip. The Woody Trail is consistently gorgeous as you wind your way along the Wallace River and approach the nine dazzling falls.
The elevation gain is moderate (1300 feet, most of which occurs on a series of switchbacks between the Middle and Upper Falls). The best views for this time of year when the water is low was at the Lower and Middle Falls stops. The Middle Falls overlook provides the trail’s most impressive scenery with a panoramic view of the Skykomish River valley and the distant portrait of the Olympic Mountains trailing into the horizon ( although I didn’t get this view because of the smoke from the fires in the area).
