Raising the two tenors before a practice night after fitting muffles for a funeral the following day. Piddletrenthide used to have an unringable peal of 5 hung in a rotten wooden frame at the top of the tower which had to be supported to the floor around 20ft below on the south side after concerns the installation would collapse. As the unringable 5 at Piddlehinton were being restored in 1947-8, Piddletrenthide’s bells were lowered into the church for safety. The bells were restored in 1958 and hung in a new cast iron frame for 6 bells with the treble of the 5 recast. The work was carried out by John Taylor and Co. of Loughborough. They remained a 5 until a treble was added in 1972 by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. This new installation was installed lower in the tower and now sits about 10ft off the intermediate chamber floor so access to the frame is either by ladder or by climbing out the old belfry door which is a bit sketchy
