A Comprehensive course address the Peptic ulcers and its treatment options, A peptic ulcer is a sore or erosion that forms on the lining of the stomach, small intestine, or esophagus. The most common types of peptic ulcers are gastric ulcers that occur in the stomach and duodenal ulcers that occur in the upper part of the small intestine (duodenum). These ulcers can be quite painful and may cause symptoms such as burning stomach pain, bloating, heartburn, and nausea.
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are a class of medications commonly used in the treatment of peptic ulcers. PPIs work by reducing the production of stomach acid. They do this by inhibiting the action of proton pumps, which are responsible for the final step of acid production in the stomach's parietal cells. By reducing stomach acid production, PPIs help to relieve the symptoms of peptic ulcers, promote healing, and prevent complications.
