On the occasion of the fifth centenary of the arrival of the Christian faith in the Philippines, the Archdiocese of San Fernando received for the first time, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, the Most Reverend Charles J. Brown, D.D. on September 07-08, 2021, nine months after his appointment to the country.
The Apostolic Nuncio lead the mass and re-enactment of the canonical coronation of the Virgen de los Remedios. His Excellency also visited the San Agustin Church in Lubao, the oldest Augustinian church in the province, the Santiago Apostol Church in Betis, known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Philippines," and the San Guillermo Church in Villa de Bacolor, the church half-buried by lahar, in commemoration of the thirtieth year of the eruption of Mount Pinatubo. The Nuncio lead a special prayer service for them.
His Excellency Archbishop Brown, being the official representative of the Holy Father Pope Francis in the Philippines and the Vatican City, was also formally received by State officials at the Provincial Capitol.
