Strange psychological sibling love takes centre stage at "Dead Ringer" Premiere

Actor and executive producer Rachel Weisz, along with the cast of crew of the psychological thriller “Dead Ringers” hit the red carpet in New York on Monday (April 3).

“I play Elliot and Beverly Mantle. They’re both OB-GYNs here in Manhattan. They’re at the top of their game, they are geniuses and brilliant doctors,” Weisz told reporters when explaining the synopsis of the show. “Elliot is more interested in science and pushing the boundaries of medical ethics and Beverly wants to open a birthing centre, and they’re co-dependent in a really twisted way. It’s a psychosexual thriller with some dark humour.”

“Dead Ringers” is a modern retelling of David Cronenberg’s 1988 film. The Amazon Prime limited series stars Rachel Weisz who plays the role of Elliot and Beverly Mantle. The twins who share everything from drugs, lovers, and a desire to push the boundaries on medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices in women's healthcare.

“I play a character called Greta and she’s a little freak,” actor Poppy Liu said when describing her character. “She’s a soft artist soul. Very misunderstood, very enigmatic, very strange.”

Along with the cast and crew of show, Alice Birch, who is the series showrunner, and executive producer alongside Rachel Weisz, head of Amazon and MGM Studio and head of marketing Jen Salke and Sue Kroll were also present.

"Dead Ringers" is out on Amazon Prime on April 21.
