Making a Custom Guitar - Neck Pocket

Routing the neck pocket, one of the scariest parts of making a custom guitar - it needs to be accurate so that when the hardware is mounted and the strings go on everything lines up straight & true.

I'm using a template to guide the router which I've mounted on the body using masking tape / double sided tape, starting with using the pillar drill to clear most of the excess away.

I'm going in with a 1/4" cutter first, as this matches the internal radius of the template - made an error here where it was under-cutting the template which left divots in the back of the pocket - so had to switch to the 1/2" router and improvise a jig so I could deepen the pocket and remove the divots.

Mistakes happen and they're the best way to learn, so always make yourself a working template so you don't wreck your main one....
