In the 1940s, American political theorist James Burnham published his book The Managerial Revolution. In it, he argues that a new class of managers will soon dominate society's power structures. Since its publication, many feel the managerial revolution has led to the death of excellence in our society. A growing sect of online thought, popularized first by the book Bronze Age Mindset, argues that managerial society is characterized by a deep brokenness of will. Compare the average managerial type today with that of Bronze Age Greece. This video explains what Burnham's theory is, its side effects, what I call “Managerial Moralism,” and, in contrast, the Homeric Ideal of Ancient Greece.
