Episode 938

Jack (Arthur Leslie) is upset Annie (Doris Speed) accused Betty (Betty Driver) of stealing the necklace. Len (Peter Adamson) worries about the salon not being ready in time for its grand opening that afternoon. Sandra (Patricia Fuller) and Irma (Sandra Gough) advertise the event. Betty arrives late for work. Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) and Ernest (Stephen Hancock) decorate the Rover’s select for the Christmas Eve concert. Emily asks Ken (Bill Roache) to be master of ceremonies while Irma tries to get Stan (Bernard Youens) to play Cynthia to her Hylda Baker but he refuses. Betty and Hilda (Jean Alexander) threaten legal action against Annie over her accusations. Jack realises Annie could be sued but she thinks it’s all a bluff. The salon opens and Ena (Violet Carson) is unimpressed. Ken backs out of his duties for the concert. Minnie (Margot Bryant) enjoys the opening party. Annie is horrified when Mrs. Hepplewhite (Betty England) calls to say she will be paying a visit to the Rovers the next day. Albert (Jack Howarth) refuses to be Irma’s Cynthia. Len questions Elsie's (Pat Phoenix) true feelings for Alan (Alan Browning). Irma realises that gormless Bernard (Gorden Kaye) would make the perfect Cynthia.
