This is a step by step guide on how to import a car from Japan! We cover everything from the Auction House to getting the car to your front door.
UPDATE - 08/2025 - I wanted to provide clearer information on Japan Car Directs fee structure (find the full fee structure at their website https://japancardirect.com/how-to-buy):
“It’s a 79,000 yen base fee with a 4% margin on the amount over 1 million. For Example, a 2 million yen car will have a fee of 79000 yen + 40,000 yen. (4% on the amount over 1 million which is 1 mil x 4%). A 4 million yen car would be 79000 yen + 120000 yen”
