Hello People,
Today’s Video : Is Mysore Palace Overhyped? I Spent a Day Finding Out
👋 Welcome back to my Mysore travel series.
Day 2 was all about experiencing Mysore like a local — starting with a soulful breakfast, diving into the royal past, indulging in iconic non-veg food, and ending the day under golden palace lights. Here’s everything I did (with practical tips) so you can plan your day too!
📍1. Breakfast at CCBC Mysore
This is not your usual tourist café — it felt like a true community corner. Locals chatting over dosas, lots of friendly faces, and a calm, spacious vibe. I had their masala dosa, plain dosa, and strong filter coffee — and honestly? It tasted just like home. Don’t miss the coconut porridge here.
📝 Tip: You pay after you eat — such a sweet gesture of trust!
⏰ Open only mornings and evenings
📍2. Mysore Palace — A Royal Experience
One of the most iconic landmarks in India — and it’s not just hype. I reached by 10 AM and I’d strongly recommend that for peaceful exploring.
✨ The interiors? Mind-blowing. From Belgian chandeliers to colourful stained glass halls and silver doors — every room tells a story.
🎟️ Entry fee: ₹120 (Indian adults), ₹70 (children), ₹250 (still camera) — Cash only!
⏳ Took me 2 hours to explore slowly and soak it all in. Totally worth it.
Note- guided tour is highly recommended here. Guides usually charge ₹300-400 for about 45 minutes. Just be aware that they may rush through, so speak to them about the pace before starting
📍3. Lunch at Hanumanthu Mess
If you're a non-veg lover, you have to eat here. It's a legendary eatery known for its wood-fire mutton and chicken pulao.
📌 Note: I mistakenly went to a franchise — the original address is

🍽️ I tried the chicken pulao — soft, tender meat, flavourful rice, and crunchy onions on top. Few of the must try's are Mutton Pulav, Keema balls, Chicken Fry, Boti kababs.
📝 Tip: They don’t serve half plates — go with a group if you want to try more dishes!
📍4. Cafe Break at Sapa Bakery
I found the cutest café in a peaceful white bungalow surrounded by greenery. This is rated one among the India's Top 50 cafe by CNT.
☕ I had their cold coffee and classic sourdough toast — but they’re famous for their bomboloni donuts and pistachio eclairs.
📸 A perfect stop if you want some quiet time with good music and calm vibes.
📝 Tip: go during the odd hours as the cafe gets crowded during busy hours..
📍5. Mysore Palace Light & Sound Show
Came back to the palace for the evening Light & Sound show. The history narration was okay, but the moment the palace lit up in golden lights — it was magical.
🎟️ Entry fee: ₹70 per person — Cash only again!
🕖 Show starts at 7 PM | Kannada (Mon–Wed), English (Thurs–Sun)
📝 Tip: You can skip the show if you're short on time — but that final lit-up view is definitely worth catching!
📍6. Spotted a local Chettinad-style restaurant near my hostel
📌 Sri Vari Bun Parota, Temple road.
🍽️ Try Chettinad Chicken gravy with Bun Parote- Super Yummy.
🎬 IN THE NEXT EPISODE
We’ll explore more royal palaces, some iconic Mysore-style dishes, and offbeat gems you shouldn’t miss! So stay tuned 🩷
