Abbey Pumping Station - narrow gauge railway.
Track for a narrow gauge railway at this museum site was laid in the early 1980s, this followed the layout of a previous railway. Manned by volunteers, the railway gives rides to the public on special event days - like today. Trains are usually hauled by Bagnall 'Leonard' 0-4-0ST built in 1919 also available are four industrial diesel locomotives.
The Abbey Pumping Station is a museum of science and technology in Leicester, England, on Corporation Road, next to the National Space Centre. With four working steam-powered beam engines from its time as a sewage pumping station, it also houses exhibits for transport, public health, light and optics, toys and civil engineering.
