This vagrant first winter male Siberian Stonechat is now into its eighth week of residence at Ashton's Flash on the outskirts of Northwich, Cheshire, UK. Over time it has now developed blacker patterning around the face and on the crown and it will be interesting to see how its plumage develops if it stays longer. For information, confirmation that this is a Siberian (maurus) rather than Stejneger's (stejnegeri) Stonechat has been confirmed by DNA analysis.
