Here's a run through on which rod to use and how to do simple freehand manganese bronze brazing the correct way. I've included a few other tips in the description below.
It's easiest to braze using a small diameter rod with LPG. Larger diameter rods are harder to control the flow and work best with Oxy/acet equipment.
You don't want to add too much bronze. You can easily use a piece of steel wire to move/reposition liquid bronze around the item to get uniform coverage.
You can use gravity to run bronze into and around jobs by moving the welded part.
Flux residue is water soluble and can be scrubbed off using a wire brush.
