Metallica - Wherever I May Roam Drum Cover

My drum cover of Metallica's Wherever I May Roam.

Ok, it's been awhile since I did a drum cover so I thought I would come back with a bang and cover this one as it gives me a chance to channel my inner Lars Ulrich and hit the drums hard like he does. I figure it's been a long time in covering some real hard rock tunes and I do love to hit the drums hard, so this was perfect for me, lol.

The 4th single from their eponymous fifth album Metallica, Wherever I May Roam features a lot of cool tom patters in the verse, the different variations of a drum motif leading to the chorus as well as a lot of those patented Lars cymbal hits with the snare which I love. I did my best to stay true to the song although I must admit, during the fade out of the song where there is a lot of different drum fills and such, I was getting tired, so some of the fills got really sloppy, haha. Anyway, I think they're passable enough to not be too noticeable.

Hard to believe the Black Album (as it is more commonly referred to) will be turning 30 this year (August 12th to be exact) and it still is a great listen for me. As much as I dig the early Metallica (particularly MOP), I do like this one and understand why they did what they did with this release. I read where Justice was as far as they could take their progressive side and with this album decided to just simplify the riffs, tighten up the songs and not have to think what odd time signature is coming next. So yeah, I get it. It's like when Rush responded with the more tightened Permanent Waves after the progressiveness of Hemispheres. But I'm rambling here...
