A herd of 13 neglected horses, known as the 'Harefield Horses', has been rescued by World Horse Welfare with the help of local authorities and other welfare charities. The horses - who had no microchips or identification - were being cared for by the local community, but it was clear the situation was getting out of control.
One pony in particular was suffering so badly she was admitted to the Royal Veterinary College for treatment. She was infested with encysted red worm, very underweight and lethargic.
