London Buses route P5 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Nine Elms and Elephant & Castle, it is operated by Abellio London.
History
Route P5 commenced operation on 10 November 1990 between Elephant & Castle and Brixton Stockwell Park Walk via Walworth Road - Penrose Street - Carter Street - Chapter Road - Lorrimore Road - Cooks Road - Dale Road - John Ruskin Street - Camberwell New Road - Vassall Road - Langton Road - Lothian Road - Akerman Road - Loughborough Road - Coldharbour Lane - Loughborough Park - Somerleyton Road - Coldharbour Lane - Atlantic Road - Brixton Road - Stockwell Road as a Monday to Saturday service. The route was initially operated by London Central from their Camberwell (Q) garage using Optare StarRiders.

On 15 May 1993, the route was extended from Brixton to Clapham North via Coldharbour Lane - Gresham Road - Stockwell Road - Stockwell Green - Landor Road - Clapham North Station then Bedford Road - Acre Lane - Coldharbour Lane and return to Elephant & Castle.

On 30 April 1995, a Sunday service was introduced.

On 29 May 1999, the loop via Landor Road and Bedford Road was withdrawn and the route was rerouted at Brixton to run in both directions via Acre Lane - Bedford Road - Clapham North Station - Clapham Road to terminate at Stockwell Station. The Optare StarRiders were replaced by Wright Handybus bodied Dennis Darts at the same time.

On 28 April 2001, the route was retained by London Central and was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 24 July 2004, the route was extended from Stockwell via Lansdowne Way - Wandsworth Road - Thessaly Road - Ascalon Street to Patmore Estate and returns via Stewart's Road.

On 29 April 2006, the route was retained by London Central.

On 30 April 2011, the route was retained by London Central with brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced.

On 30 April 2016, the route was retained by London Central using existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts and brand new Enviro 200 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E20Ds.

On 2 May 2020, the route passed to Abellio London operating Walworth (WL) garage using existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 200s and Enviro 200 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E20Ds temporarily whilst the charging infrastructure at Walworth (WL) is fully installed.

On 12 May 2020, the Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts and Enviro 200 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E20Ds were replaced by Caetano e.City Golds.
