Travel Back in Time From Thorn Bridge to Stamp End, Lincoln

My recent time shift videos featuring the long lost Sloop Inn on Waterside North generated a lot of discussions about this area of Lincoln, so I've decided to put all my other time shifts of the area together in this compilation. This used to be the beating heart of the city, with heavy industry covering a huge area on the south bank of the River Witham, and thousands of people living in the Victorian terraces on the north bank. The factories and the foundries largely disappeared during the second half of the 20th century, or were replaced by new high tech industries. A lot of the houses on the north bank went too, demolished in the 1960s and replaced by new homes and a new street layout. Lots of well known landmarks were lost, including several pubs as well as The Sloop. The Co-operative Mill, and the old Stamp End power station were probably the most prominent things to go, while the tower block of Shuttleworth House is the most obvious new development to come out of the 1960s. It looks like a lot has changed, and of course it has, but much has stayed the same too. Many of the shells of the old industrial buildings on the south bank remain, the fine curved metal footbridge is still used by many people, and boats still use the locks at Stamp End. Although the water traffic is now mainly leisure craft rather than working barges.
