The Singapore Prison Service is adopting new technology to improve how inmates are admitted, reducing manual handling while enhancing safety and efficiency. Biometric lockers, in-cell telephone systems and advanced security checks now play a central role, alongside officers trained to balance security with empathy. CNA was given rare access to trace an offender’s journey from sentencing at the State Courts to entry into Changi Prison, highlighting how technology supports both operations and inmates' well-being.
