One of the most turbulent times in European History was the French Revolution, and thousands of people were taken to the guillotine at the time. Even King Louis XVI and his Queen Marie Antoinette lost their heads on the device, and later their remains were exhumed and dug up. Their graves were opened as were their coffins, but also there were many other royal graves which were disturbed.
