Imagine it is Friday afternoon and three editors are eager to start their weekend. But they can’t leave the office until they have given a pile of unsolicited manuscripts a thumbs up or thumbs down, based only on first pages. That is the premise of Slush Pile, one of the most popular events at Writers Morning Out. Join us to hear our panel decide the fate of each manuscript in the dreaded Slush Pile.
Our panel of returning esteemed judges returning includes:
Noah Stetzer, Associate Director, Bull City Press
Tracy Crow, Literary Agent, Tracy Crow Literary Agency
Ty Stumpf, Humanities Department Chair, Central Carolina Community College
Plus Steevie Jane Parks, a professional audiobook reader who ably read submissions at our last Slush Pile, will return to read the anonymous entries aloud as the panel reads along.
Slush Pile is not only fun, it also provides great insights into how editors and publishers gauge manuscripts.
