"Randa" is the term for the joining embroidery practiced in Guatemala, in which fabrics are stitched together decoratively. Traditionally, this stitch is practiced on backstrap-woven panels of textiles, joining them with selvages intact (without cutting) to create larger fabric suitable for a güipil, corte, and more.
