Here's my rendition of an early Elvis, rockabilly classic. On this one I took the opportunity to overdub a country-flavoured guitar break.
'Blue Moon of Kentucky' was released in July 1954 as the B-side of Elvis's first single on Sun Records, 'That's Alright'. It was written by bluegrass musician Bill Monroe, and first recorded by him in 1947 with his band the Bluegrass Boys. That original version was in waltz (3/4) time. In July 1954, whilst recording at Sun Studio in Memphis, Elvis and his band, Scotty Moore and Bill Black, transformed the song into a rockabilly, blues-flavoured song (in 4/4 time).
