Nothing to Prove

Confidence doesn’t disappear because doubt is resolved.
It disappears because there’s no image left to support.
Confidence only mattered when action was representing someone —
when decisions needed to say something about who you are.
When that structure isn’t operating, nothing needs reinforcement.
Action doesn’t wait for reassurance.
It happens or it doesn’t.
Confidence doesn’t lead it.
Insecurity doesn’t stop it.
Both are just signals that no longer organize behavior.
Decision-making simplifies —
not because choices become clearer,
but because fewer things are consulted.
There’s no internal committee.
No weighing of identity outcomes.
No narrator reviewing decisions afterward.
Silence changes too.
It stops being mystical.
It isn’t a background or a state.
Silence is simply what’s there
when nothing is commenting.
Sound arises in it.
Thought arises in it.
Silence doesn’t contrast with them —
it isn’t opposite.
It’s just not replaced by noise anymore.
When nothing needs to be proven,
nothing needs to be decided as someone,
and silence doesn’t need meaning,
life runs without self-support.
Not because something improved —
but because something extra
stopped being required.
