Fast & Furious Arcade (2022) | Gameplay #1

The local bowling alley here in Joplin, Missouri (Carl Richard's 4th Street Bowl) changed up their arcade by replacing some games. One of them they took out was Cruis'n Blast and replaced it with the 2022 version of Fast & Furious from Raw Thrills, a dual-screen machine which is pretty damn tall...

When it comes to gameplay, it's basically a dual-screen version of Cruis'n Blast but with missions that require you to finish to complete across six locations against seven AI cars. There are some power-ups in the game, one of them is "Shockwave" which uses a explosive shockwave blast to surrounding cars and takes them out with a Burnout-esque Takedown wreck. Speaking of cars, there are eight licensed cars to choose from with manufacturers ranging from Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet, and Jeep.

My only complaint with this version of Fast & Furious is that you can only choose your car and track once, you have to drive that car for every mission that you finish and you automatically go to the next race meaning you don't get to choose the missions you want play after finishing a race. Even if you win a race and don't accomplish a mission (which is possible to do in this game), you don't get a free race which is really shitty in my opinion.

The game uses a QR Code format to save player progress, which is odd considering prior Raw Thrills racing games used a telephone keypad PIN system like the first four Fast & Furious games (the 2004 original, Super Bikes, DRIFT, and SuperCars), H2Overdrive, Cruis'n Blast, MotoGP, Batman, and Dirty Drivin'. I personally would've preferred the keypad PIN system as opposed to the QR code format as I have heard the QR code system is a little difficult to save progress. I think telephone keypad PIN systems work better because they are easier to both create and sign-in to player profiles.

The bowling alley here in Joplin has a card system for their arcade. Because of this card system, I had to buy a card that I loaded $5 on but I only got 20 credits. Due to this, they set the number of credits to start or continue playing on Fast & Furious Arcade at 8 credits, which is the reason for the short video. Five bucks for 20 little credits for games that cost a nearly half of what is loaded onto a card just to play a racing game in a small arcade area inside a bowling alley is pretty goddamn ridiculous.
