Mum and I went to see the wildflowers last week as you know.
We left at 7am Friday and headed straight to Mingenew and Coalseam Conservation Park (thanks to Lee Stenhouse and The ABC for some frames)
Along the way we stopped at Greenhough and Walkaway before visiting the Sydney Memorial in Geraldton before spending the night.
After much research we chose to take the path up the Chapman Valley Road in the morning to Yuna and we were very pleased with carpets of flowers and splendidly vivid crops of Canola.
Passing through Mullewa with a 30 km drive to Pindar to see the wreath flowers , we turned left and it was a 10 km drive on smooth red dirt to many many wreath flowers not yet in bloom but it's going to be a massive display when they do.
It was back to Mullewa and a left turn to Canna to visit the shack of 'Mack' who we spoke of last week on Lost Perth.
We had no call back from the accommodation in Morowa so continued on the Bowgada Nature Reserve halfway to Perenjori where we found a good display in 2016. Then we drove to the railway crossing on the Mullewa-Wubin Road 6 kms north of Perenjori and turned left after the crossing. Drive 1700 metres and turn right into a quarry and the wreath flowers here in 2016 were magnificent but we found maybe a dozen small wreaths not yet in flower.
A quick toilet stop in Perenjori saw us venture home having travelled 1300 kms in just two days seeing all we wished to see.
If you have any favourite spots and tips, please leave a comment for those who wish to head up soon or over the school holidays to see thanks.
