Despite feeling a bit underdressed in my hoody and wall climbing shoes, the vibrant atmosphere quickly eased my nerves. The energy was electric, with professionals from all backgrounds mingling, sharing laughs, and exchanging business ideas. It truly embodied a space of authenticity and connection, as noted by featured founder Marcus Carpenter of “Route 1,” who described it as "one of the most authentic, transparent energy-building spaces to be a part of."

No matter your comfort level, this welcoming environment ensures everyone can find their place and build connections. I highly recommend joining their monthly gatherings for an enriching experience!

001: Event 1 - Strengthen The Strong

I floated 4 floors above ground level in the Osborn 370 building, unsure of what to expect for my first official event as a Minnesotan reporter. My excitement of doing my first MSPexcite written report was quickly dashed by the fact that I had dived into an ocean of corporate professionals, completely underdressed in my handy hoody and wall climbing shoes, no less. Not sure how to characterize my new role, a lovely woman & real estate wizard named Gina said, “Oh, you’re a poetic reporter.” Beautifully said! That's exactly how I’d go on to introduce myself in future interactions.

There were more photographers and others that came in with more casual wear, which helped me to breathe and not feel as self-conscious. After my first few conversations, I noticed a sprightly deluge of men and women professionals pouring through the door, ready to mingle & connect. The energy of the place was booming with eager conversation, resembling the sounds a pot of soup makes as it gets into the groove of mixing. Professionals of different ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds all came together, exchanging laughs, anecdotes, and business ideas. The flow of conversation between professionals had a symbiotic cozy quality to it. The featured founder of the month, Marcus Carpenter of the organization “Route 1,” even described the event as “one of the most authentic, transparent energy-building spaces to be a part of.”

It was truly a space where my neurosis could dissolve, allowing my authentic self to find comfort in conversing. No matter where you may find yourself on the scale when it comes to putting yourself out there, the environment and the warmth of the people are factors that help even the most introverted souls find connection. Anissa, one of the coordinators, emphasized how their Strengthen The Strong environment is all about pulling each other up, not stepping on one another to reach a “top,” and that’s exactly the tone the space held. A space where the energy of mutual beneficiality governed. That kind of energy isn’t found in all networking spaces, and I highly recommend attending one of their monthly gatherings.
