'Work in progress': Rehearsal footage. Vintage Filter.
As classical dancers we spend hours and hours of practice to pursue an unachievable perfection. We often learn from the best teachers and yet in the actual dancing something of their teaching may slip away. Like a childhood memory, when you feel what you felt then, but every time you recall that memory, it somehow also feels and looks different.
As a dancer, my goal is to evoke feelings, where technique becomes a medium not the end in itself, where the dance channels who I am, and not the other way around: I do not want channel an abstract idea of dance.
In this series of work in progress videos, I want to show the journey of a dancer as a human being that strives to achieve something beyond herself, without really fully managing to do so.
I do not aim to impress or demonstrate anything.
