Robots Course Session1 NameBadge

I am starting the course on "Robots for Seniors" at Chatswood Library on Sat 17 May 2025. This course is not just for seniors but anyone who wants to learn something about making your own robot. It is a course for those who know nothing about robots, electronics or coding. Perhaps you already have skills in one of these areas and I will fill in the gaps.

The robot will use a M5Stack computer AtomS3R and as we progress through the course I will add additional components such as the motor drive. All components except for the line follower come from M5Stack.

For the first couple os sessions there is no need to purchase the components . I will loan these at the library for th duration of the session. Each session will last for 1 hr. It is recommended that you purchase your own compoents after session 3 (Aug 25).

For programming we use the software IDE on-line called UIFLow 2 also from M5Stack. Before we do this we learn about the M5Burner to prepare our AtomS3R for accepting the UIFLow program. You can also load alternative firmware into your AtomS3R such as a smart watch that couples with your Anrdoid phone.

Our first program after learning about the M5Burner is a simple "Name Badge" program where we paint our name on the computer's screen.

Next month we will progress and learn how to make various clocks using the AtomS3R. There are four projects in this session.
