来古冰川是世界三大海洋性冰川之一，是西藏已知的面积最大和最宽的冰川。
来古冰川的名称来源于冰川附近的一个小村落：来古村。来古村的藏语意思是隐藏着的、世外桃源般的村落。来古村掩映在四周连绵起伏的群山的绿色苍穹之中，似乎被大自然有意所隐藏，因而得名。
身在来古村，你可以同时看到美西冰川、雅隆冰川、若骄冰川、东嘎冰川、雄加冰川和牛马冰川，因为这些冰川都围绕着来古村，所以它们被人们统称为来古冰川。其中生成于岗日嘎布山东边长达12公里的雅隆冰川最为雄壮，它从海拔6000多米的主峰，一直延伸到海拔4000米左右的来古村边。
Laigu Glacier is one of the three largest marine glaciers in the world and the largest and widest glacier known in Tibet.
The name of Laigu Glacier comes from a small village near the glacier: Laigu Village. Laigu Village in Tibetan means a hidden, paradise-like village. Laigu Village is hidden in the green sky of the rolling mountains around it, and seems to be intentionally hidden by nature, hence the name.
In Laigu Village, you can see the Meixi Glacier, Yalong Glacier, Ruojiao Glacier, Dongga Glacier, Xiongjia Glacier and Niuma Glacier at the same time. Because these glaciers are all around Laigu Village, they are collectively called Laigu Glacier. Among them, the Yalong Glacier, which is 12 kilometers long and formed on the east side of Gangri Gabu Mountain, is the most majestic. It extends from the main peak at an altitude of more than 6,000 meters to the edge of Laigu Village at an altitude of about 4,000 meters.
