1962 Corvette Damaged Wire Repair and New Distribution Block
In this video I am replacing a damaged starter lead as well as cleaning up and re-wrapping the starter wiring harness. I also added a new power distribution block after removing the ballast resistor in preparation for wiring the new HEI distributor.
Never a dull moment for this project, after inspecting the starter wiring harness I found one of the leads were pretty severely damaged and had exposed copper which is never a good thing when you're dealing with supplied power for your starter. I replaced one wire completely and put a new terminal on another. Once the repairs were made I wrapped the entire harness with new cloth high temp tape to avoid future chaffing and damage to the harness.
The parts I used are listed below:
Painless Performance Fleece Anti-Abrasion High Heat tape Summit part number 72020 (from Summit Racing)
RX2 Racing Power Distribution Block, 8 Terminal Manuf Part number RX2-SP8P (Amazon)
Ring terminals were from a standard kit from NAPA Auto Parts
3/1 Heat Shrink Tubing was from shop stock but purchased from Amazon
