I decided to make a lampshade using these egg cartons and a simple plastic item, with only the easiest tools and materials you can find at home. First, I soaked the egg cartons and let them sit for a while, then I mashed them. I used a food processor, but you can also use a mixer for this step.
Next, I added wood glue, salt (to prevent mold), and flour (for cohesion and a smoother dough), and mixed it all together. Then, I added my desired color—powdered pigment works best. Before placing your molds, it’s a good idea to prepare a base so the dough doesn’t spread or crack.
For drying, let it sit in a cool area for about a week to avoid cracks. For a chic look, I used yarn and started weaving. One last tip: place your work on a wire rack or something similar while drying to allow air circulation and prevent mold. Finally, you can varnish the surface for a polished finish
