Highlights - Final of the Men's Individual Epee Fencing Event at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
On the Left - Romain CANNONE of France (FIE Rank 47) - A month before the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, Cannone was selected for the French Olympic Team as the substitute (which means he would not be entered into the Men's Epee Individual Event). However, his teammate Daniel JERENT was banned for testing positive to an illicit substance, so Cannone was sent to fence for the individual instead. Cannone, like all other semifinalists - Santarelli, Reizlin, and Siklosi - had never broke into the FIE Top 16 Ranking before the Tokyo Olympic Cycle, however, Cannone is the only one who had never broke into the Top 16 before the Tokyo Olympics itself.
On the Right - SIKLOSI Gergely of Hungary (FIE Rank 1) - Siklosi is the reigning World Champion from the 2019 World Championships, held in Budapest. Siklosi only broke into the Senior Top 16 after he won the World Championships. In the combined Seasons of 2019 to 2020 and 2020 to 2021, Siklosi quickly became World No. 1 with results such as a Gold at the 2020 Heidenheim World Cup and Silver at the 2021 Kazan World Cup.
Previous Match-ups - These have faced each other once in this Olympic Cycle. At the 2017 Doha Grand Prix, Siklosi beat Cannone 15-10.
