North Yorkshire Moors Railway Spring Diesel Gala Event

Grosmont Station, Darnholme, Goathland Station, Moorgates
The NYMR put on a 4 day diesel Gala event in the middle of June, with a nice selection of Heritage Diesels and a wonderful Railcar set. "Deltic" 55009 "Alycidon" courtesy of the DPS was hauling trains throughout the period, but suffered a glitch on the Saturday afternoon, but was reinstated for duty on the Sunday. Locomotive 50021 "Rodney" from the 50021 owners group also hauled trains the entire event as did "Crompton" 33202 "Dennis G Robinson", named "The Burma Star" in 1991. No less than 3 Class 37s were in service too, Locomotives 37688 "Great Rocks", 37268 in BR Blue livery looking fantastic and 37418 in Loram livery named "An Comunn Gaidhealach" Scottish Gaelic for "The Highland Society". Class 31s were represented by 2 members of this versatile Locomotive Class in the way of 31128 "Charybdis" and EWS Liveried 31466. A stunning BR Blue Liveried 47077 "North Star" performed the entire 4 days and a beautiful NER Autocar built in 1903 number 3170 fitted with a diesel Cummins Engine, way ahead of her time when she entered service back in the day. The trains were running the entire length of the line from Pickering to Grosmont, with the exception of 3170, which was shuttling between Pickering and Levisham. Another shuttle service ran the other end of the route between Grosmont and Goathland with a selection of top 'n' tailed Locomotives. Some services were splendidly "Double Headed" by Class 37s or 31s and also a mixture of traction adding to sheer variety that was on show for this brilliant event. I have split the feature into 2 parts, the first part covers the Northern end of the line with shots from Grosmont, Darnholme, Goathland and Moorgates, while the second part covers Levisham, Newbridge and Pickering Station at the Southern end of the railway. So many photographers have covered this event, almost to saturation levels, but there maybe still some shots that are unique to this feature.
