How to Safely Resume Activities After Having a Baby: 3 Essential Tips

Returning to the activities you love after having a baby can feel overwhelming. Many women feel stuck, unsure of where to start, and worried about doing more harm than good.

We’re here to change that!

Hi, I’m Amy Vanderlinden, a pelvic health physical therapist at Moment of Truth Physical Therapy, and I’m passionate about empowering women to feel confident in their bodies again.

Whether you’re eager to get back to running, CrossFit, or simply enjoying time with your kids at the park, this video will guide you through three practical tips for resuming activities safely.

What You’ll Learn in This Video:

🟠 Listen to Your Body:
Postpartum bleeding can last 3–6 weeks, depending on factors like delivery type (C-section, episiotomy, etc.).
If you notice increased bleeding, pain, or pressure when resuming activities, don’t panic. Adjust your pace, and let your body guide your recovery process.

🟠Start Slow and Gradual:
Ease into activities—think walking before running, or lighter weights before heavy lifting.
Gradual progression helps you build strength and confidence without triggering pain or setbacks.
Avoid the fear cycle of overdoing it, experiencing discomfort, and staying stuck.

🟠Consult a Pelvic Health Professional:
A pelvic health physical therapist can assess your body, identify areas of weakness or tension, and create a personalized recovery plan.
Gain clarity and confidence in your healing journey with expert guidance.
