Join me on my indie game development journey as I continue building my 2D pixel-art online RPG! In this second devlog, I dive into some big changes to the game’s core design.
The open world has been replaced with a more streamlined, randomly generated level system that makes each run feel fresh and unpredictable.
I’ve also added a “push your luck” mechanic, where you’ll decide after every stage whether to keep venturing deeper for better loot or head back safely before losing it all.
As you level up, a new skill drafting system lets you choose one of three random abilities, making each playthrough unique and strategic.
On top of that, I showcase other smaller changes:
🎨 Improved environment art and a custom mouse cursor
🎵 A new music track
🧪 Usable items, quest rewards and a tutorial island for new players
