On Snares Island, male and female Buller's Albatrosses spend more than six months apart each year, surviving and foraging in the vast ocean. When the warm summer arrives, they return to Snares Island to begin their breeding season. Buller's Albatrosses display strong pair bonding during breeding, typically mating with the same partner each year. These birds have a long lifespan, often returning to the same nesting site, and their breeding process remains relatively consistent year after year.
