Prevention protects us from falling into difficulty, while restoration helps cure us once we are already struggling. The Quran is a powerful tool for prevention—it offers guidance, clarity, and purpose, helping us navigate life’s hardships. Without it, we may experience sadness and emptiness, as the Prophet ﷺ said: “The one who doesn’t have anything of the Quran in their heart is like a destroyed house.” The Quran provides fulfillment, meaning, and a foundation for happiness.

When it comes to restoration, the Quran is described as a cure for what is in the heart and chest. This spiritual healing does not negate the use of other forms of support. Islam encourages a holistic approach, recognizing physical, emotional, and mental health. The Prophet ﷺ even recommended simple remedies, such as barley water, alongside spiritual practices to alleviate sadness. This demonstrates that seeking multiple forms of support is permissible and encouraged.

Ultimately, the Quran is fundamental in both prevention and restoration. While it may not replace medical treatment or therapy, neglecting it can be to one’s detriment. For Muslims, the Quran provides a source of elevation, alleviation, and guidance in life’s most challenging moments.
