Mechanics expert Steve Fletcher receives a theodolite that belonged to David Brown's father, who was a chartered surveyor. The brass instrument measures distance and angles and was an essential tool throughout his father's career. The theodolite now serves as a cherished connection to David's late father. Steve is excited to work on such a high-quality, precision instrument. He enlists the help of Richard Biggs, an expert with over 50 years of experience, to clean the dirty lenses of the telescopic elements. Steve carefully disassembles the 200+ brass parts and soaks them in clock cleaning fluid before rebuilding the theodolite like an intricate 3D puzzle. He also seeks assistance from his sister, Susie, to create a new leather strap for the carry case. Silversmith Brenton West takes on the task of refurbishing a brass bell that was once used to indicate the arrival of the ice cream man in the East End of London. This bell was a memento of the Amato family's once-thriving ice cream business. Michelle Amato's grandfather was the first to make and sell ice cream in Newham in the late 1800s, and his son followed in his footsteps. Brenton removes years of tarnish from the brass bell and hands it over to Dom, who uses his metal painting skills to transform it. Brenton also refurbishes the wooden handle and creates a brass finial to complete the restoration process. The barn is filled with the resonating sound of the Amato family's beloved bell once again. Leather expert Susie Fletcher breathes new life into a deflated, shrivelled leather football that belongs to Kevin Towell from Derby. Kevin received it as a Christmas gift over 60 years ago, and it sparked a lifelong passion for football that he passed on to his son and grandson. Although the ball may no longer be kicked around, Kevin would like to have it restored as a keepsake. Susie cleans and nourishes the parched leather with saddle soap and reinforces the failing structure by inserting a lining. She also packs it with sheep's wool to restore its spherical shape, preserving Kevin's childhood treasure and making it a fitting heirloom for future generations of family football fans.
