【横峰寺奥の院 星ケ森】[Hoshigamori, the inner sanctuary of Yokomine Temple]

1月早くも大寒の今回は、去年宝島社から出版された『田舎暮らしの本』2月号、「2023年版住みたい田舎ベストランキング」（人口10万人以上20万人未満のまち）で、愛媛県西条市が全部門の第2位　(１位は隣街の同じ愛媛県今治市)　でして、その住みやすい西条市にある四国遍路の一番の難所、第六十番札所横峰寺さんに行って来ました。
こちらは平成28年（2016年）10月3日に、湯浪休憩地の横の階段を上がった先から横峰寺に至るまでの約1.7kmが、国史跡伊予遍路道横峰寺道に指定されました。
そして道沿いには、横峰寺までの距離を示す丁石が一丁（約109m）ごとに建てられていまして、湯浪休憩地からは標高750mの横峰寺まで高低差約500ｍの険しい山道が2.2kmもあり、坂道を登りきるとそこには横峰寺の立派な山門が迎えてくれます。
またこの先にある星ケ森には、寛保２年 (1742年) 建立、石鎚信仰の発心の門とされる「かねの鳥居」があり、その金属製の鳥居は意外に小さいものでしたが、横峰寺奥の院の象徴が鳥居とは？……
神仏習合時代の名残りを観ることが出来ました。
It's already the coldest time of the year in January, and in the February issue of Country Living Book, published by Takarajimasha last year, Saijo City in Ehime Prefecture was ranked second in all categories in the "2023 Best Countryside to Live in Ranking" (towns with a population of 100,000 to 200,000) (the first place went to the neighboring city of Imabari, also in Ehime Prefecture). So I decided to visit Yokomine-ji Temple, the 60th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, and the most difficult spot on the route, located in this livable city.
On October 3, 2016, the approximately 1.7 km section from the top of the stairs next to the Yunami Rest Area to Yokomine-ji Temple was designated as a National Historic Site, part of the Iyo Pilgrimage Route Yokomine-ji Trail.
Along the road, there are marker stones set up every 109m (approximately 1 block) indicating the distance to Yokomine-ji Temple. From Yunami Rest Area to Yokomine-ji Temple, which is at an altitude of 750m, it is a 2.2km steep mountain path with an elevation difference of about 500m. Once you reach the top of the slope, you will be greeted by Yokomine-ji Temple's magnificent mountain gate.
Further ahead, in Hoshigamori, there is the Kane no Torii, which was built in 1742 and is said to be the gate where faith in Ishizuchi began. The metal torii was surprisingly small, but why is a torii the symbol of Yokomine-ji Temple's inner sanctuary? ...
We were able to see remnants of the era when Shinto and Buddhism were syncretized.

山号は石鈇山（いしづちざん）、院号は福智院（ふくちいん）と号す。
本尊は大日如来。
