In this EPDM flat roof video tutorial, you’ll learn how to correctly create a watertight roof surface around a pipe penetration close to a wall using a Pipe Box Pocket.

Using the right tools, materials, and techniques, pipes can penetrate roof decks close to walls and remain reliably watertight. Our video demonstration is designed to help you master this tricky EPDM roofing task.

Tools required:
• Craft knife
• Scissors
• Scribe
• Tape measure
• Paintbrush
• Penny roller
• Fine tooth hand saw or multi-cutter
• Sealant gun
• Surgical gloves

Materials required:
• Spray Contact Adhesive
• 9 Inch Flashing Tape
• EPDM Primer
• Pipe Box Pocket
• 3 Inch Seam Tape
• MS Polymer Sealant
• Glass cleaner

Things to be aware of:
• The prepared roof surface must be clean, dry, and free from dust and contaminants (bitumen, oil, etc).
• Always wait for FlexiProof EPDM Primer to become touch dry and still tacky. Especially before applying flashing tape to the Pipe Box Pocket underside; and before applying the Pipe Box Pocket to the roof deck membrane. This avoids gas bubbles forming between these seals and helps to create a smart and watertight finish.
