Comparing the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz with the Roger Mayer Classic Fuzz.
This isn't a particularly structured pedal demo- I'm playing them, adjusting them as I hear things, and just enjoying them. I hope it helps you if you're thinking of getting one.
Roger Mayer is a British electrical engineer who worked with, amongst others, Jimi Hendrix. He invented some amazing effects pedals.
The Classic Fuzz is said to incorporate the same modifications that Roger Mayer made for Jimi Hendrix's fuzz, on his early recordings.
The Axis Fuzz was developed in early 1967 to give an additional series of tone colours for Jimi. This guitar effect is named after it's most famous use on the title track of the album "Axis Bold as Love". It can also be heard extensively on the "Band of Gypsies" and various other post 1968 recordings by Jimi.
