Jesse and Hailee Lopez - "Duck Under Variations/Technique" - WCS Moments Goal Of The Week

This West Coast Swing Moments Goal Of The Week is all about the ever so thrilling "Duck Under. Lopez Dance is exploring the techniques and variations that this Duck Under can hold.

(WARNING: This move can cause injuries if executed incorrectly. Please be sure to stretch before you practice, and try it out with a partner you are comfortable dancing with.)

Leaders will begin with leading an inside turn, and catching the opposite shoulder of their follower (leaders right hand to the follower's left shoulder blade). Followers should be facing their leaders at this time, feet close together.
Next, leaders will begin to turn their followers to face the front, as the followers take their left leg, and "post" it behind themselves. Followers, be sure to grab the upper arm of your leader as your body begins to drop down, in order to help support your weight.
As the leader lets the follower drop down, the follower will "duck under" the right arm of their leader, (keep your knees close together!) and proceed to stand up in whatever manner the couple decides fits best with their dance.

There are many ways to come out of a duck under, be sure to experiment with whatever fits your personal style.
