We follow New York, Susquehanna & Western No. 3040 on snowy April 16, 2025 as it takes five loaded covered hoppers containing fertilizer up and over miles-long and curvy Paris Hill to Sangerfield, approx 23 miles south of the railroad's Utica Yard. Locations include Chadwicks, Clayville, Cassville, Paris Station, Sangerfield and, lastly, on return, coming off Utica's Schuyler Street with nine covered hoppers.
The crew left CSX No. 2722 at the "Canal Branch" siding in Utica as that engine was not needed for the trip to Sangerfield. They picked it up on their return.
The vintage photo in the video, as duly credited, is from the Gordon Davis collection courtesy of Doug Ellison. Doug just authored a fine book on the Utica Branch titled, "A Fond Look at Phoebe Snow's Utica Division."
I interviewed Doug about his excellent book and the video is here:

The book is still available as set forth in the video. It also may be purchased through Barnes & Noble. I highly recommend it!!
