In 1988, two small-time criminals tried robbing a Deutsche Bank branch in the small town of Gladbeck. Things soon spiraled out of control and they had to take hostages. Trying to escape the police, they drove all across West Germany and what ensued was a lesson on how to not handle a hostage situation - for both the press and the police.
