Dr. Aaron Fountain has been working with Cleveland Restoration Society to compile and produce a written history detailing the impact of Black churches in Cleveland. The script for this video, produced by Dr. Fountain, is based upon his narrative. This video features a curated collection of archival images from many churches across the city.
Cleveland Restoration Society (CRS) is leading a community effort to document, preserve, and share the stories of Cleveland’s historic Black churches, highlighting their significance to African American cultural heritage and to larger American contemporary culture. The overarching goal of this project is to preserve the history and cultural heritage of Cleveland’s historic Black churches by documenting and sharing their history and stories.
