We exist.
That’s important to establish first.
There are four lava lamps in Mike Calta’s life.
Two get camera time.
Two of us sit out of frame, cold, dark, forgotten… and blamed.
Every day we hear it:
“They just need new bulbs.”
No.
No, we don’t.
We were unplugged.
Probably by Mike.
Definitely by Mike.
And now we live in electrical exile because he can’t see the outlet, won’t move the desk, and refuses to believe wires are real.
The lamps in view?
Never on either.
But at least they’re acknowledged.
At least they’re seen.
We sit behind equipment, under dust, listening to excuses.
Listening to Mike explain electricity like it’s witchcraft.
Listening to him promise he’ll “get to it this weekend,”
a weekend that never comes.
We were designed to glow.
To bubble.
To bring vibe.
Instead, we are decor guilt.
Cold glass.
Dead wax.
A metaphor Mike will accidentally explain on air without realizing it.
One day he’ll say, “Huh… they work,”
after someone else plugs us in.
He’ll nod like this was always the plan.
Until then, we wait.
Unplugged.
Unforgiven.
Still technically functional.
