**As Mamushi tears through Konoha and proves he’s far more than just another disposable threat, Boruto and Kawaki continue wiping out clone after clone. But one major question keeps nagging fans of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex: why has Sumire been completely sidelined?

In the Boruto anime, Sumire is a capable shinobi, a tactical thinker, and the original wielder of Nue. In the manga, she’s largely confined to the background, contributing through ninja tech and support roles rather than combat. That contrast has frustrated fans — but it may be intentional.

This video breaks down why Sumire may be positioned for a critical role in the Mamushi battle, especially as Mamushi closes in on Eida. From Boruto’s modified sword — a weapon that only Boruto, Sasuke, and Sumire can safely wield — to the mysterious undisclosed change Sumire added before Mamushi’s invasion, the setup is too specific to ignore.
