On November 13th, 1987, GMA unveiled its new station ID at the Philippine International Convention Center during the celebration of Vilma Santos’ 25th anniversary in showbiz.
The station ID was made to tease the tallest and then-unfinished 777-foot transmitter, "Tower of Power”. The transmitter was completed in November 1988.
The station ID opens with the collage of GMA’s provincial stations through landmarks such as the Mayon Volcano in Albay, Rizal Park with its old fountain, Magellan’s Cross with the white gate, Banaue Rice Terraces, An island in Zamboanga with three tondaan and a colorful vinta.
The next sequence shows laser beams shooting up from GMA’s provincial transmitters subsequently forming the Tower of Power transmitter resting on the Philippine map. It then flips out to reveal the GMA Radio-Television Arts logo along with the “Where You Belong!” slogan. The jingle that is played in the background was produced by JAM Creative Productions, originally used for WJZ-TV 13. Parts of the station ID especially the scenery part were also used in bumpers.
The complete station ID, along with other network station IDs (RPN-9, back then as New Vision 9, ABS-CBN, and IBC-13) was included in the 1989 PMPC Star Awards for Television and won the Best Station with Balanced Programming. The video was uploaded by VSPRODUCTIONS in the early 2010s, albeit low-quality and black and white. It was soon terminated but the station IDs part was uploaded by lelouchfanchannel, but it is more low-quality.
Excerpts of the colored version were uploaded online. A Lunch Date episode with the bumper was uploaded by View on the 3rd - Jojo Bailon in 2017. TheComputerParts uploaded an excerpt in 2022. The last part which includes the Tower of Power and the logo was shown in GMA’s Limang Dekada documentary. Several recreations were made, the most known ones are from EdiotTV, Gallemase, and TheComputerParts.
On September 6, 2024, Michael Reyes Videos uploaded a clip of GMA's disruption of programming in Day 2 of the 1989 Philippine Coup attempt which includes the partial ID. It includes the full ID, albeit it was used as a background for the announcement and schedule. The textless version is still lost.
