One Minute Inspirations – Did You Take Out The Trash Today?
Sin is like trash that is an eye-sore to God and an irritant to His nostrils! Let’s turn to God by making our lives a living sacrifice to Him instead of the garbage that will turn Him away from us! Find out more!
This lesson came into being because it is trash day and my wife gave me the reminder early in the morning with the words, “Don’t Forget To Take Out The Trash!” This is because we have to get our 2 trash cans on the side of the road for the garbage collection company to haul away before they come and go. Otherwise, we are left with trash throughout the week that we do not want as the collection company only comes once per week.
Well, it is one of my pet peeves to have trash in the house. So, I am glad to get rid of it. The clutter and the smell of garbage ruins my day. So, I must get rid of it as soon as possible. However, it is not easy getting rid of my trash cans. I once put them in front of the house for easy access, but I had to stop doing that because at night, living in the Southern United States, it attracts snakes. So, my preferred place is to keep the trash in large cans out in the back of the house. This keeps the snakes away from the house, but makes it hard to get the trash cans onto the curb by the street for the collection company because the rear of my house is below a hill. So, I have to roll the trash cans up a pretty steep hill to get them on the curb! Nonetheless, I do it because it is necessary for a clean home and peace of mind for me and my wife.
Nonetheless, I see parallels in the Christian life. Sin should be seen as garbage to us. Thus, we must put it on the street to be taken away. We cannot keep it around us. Like rolling my trash cans up a hill, it may not be easy to do, but it’s worth it! Sin attracts snakes. Not the legless creatures but the wrong types of people in our lives. Remember, the Bible tells us that hanging around the wrong crowd corrupts us (1 Corinthians 15:33). So, we cannot be doing things like them as unfortunately, the more sinful you are, the more popular you become with mankind; but not so with God (John 15:19; Romans 12:1-2). Sin separates us from Him (Isaiah 59:2; 1 Peter 3:12)! So, we don’t want our lives to be a trash bin of sin keeping God away from us because our lives are an eye sore that also irritates the nostrils of God with sin!
So, in conclusion, there is no time to waste. As I had to rush to get the trash on the street for the collector to come and take it away, we must rid ourselves of the trash of sin that stinks up our lives and separates us from God. Let’s turn in masses to lives that God would have us lead instead. That way, our lives are living sacrifices to God and not the trash that He doesn’t want to see! God bless you! Thanks for listening!
If you have not made Jesus Christ the head of your life for salvation, don’t delay another day! The Bible says that we must obey the Gospel (Romans 10:16). This is done by being exposed to, believing, and adhering to the Word of God as delivered to us in the New Testament of the Bible! For short, it is called obeying “God’s Plan of Salvation!” Please see my accompanying video entitled, “The Six Things That Save” in order to do so today! It contains the steps that the Bible teaches for salvation. You can reach it by going to the YouTube link below or scanning the QR code below with your cell phone! God bless you!
