Jason Becker | SERRANA | FULL COVER

Well, I don't even know where to start.
WARNING: stream of consciousness in 3… 2… 1…

A month ago I got back home from my latest European tour with ‪@MasterBootRecord‬ . As soon as I was home again, I started thinking about the next things to do and suddenly I realized that I didn’t have one.

I've been working on several big projects coming out next year, including my 3rd solo album (👀), but fortunately everything is done. So I thought, maybe it’s the right time to finally fulfill the request I’ve received the most online over the years: playing Serrana in its entirety.

I’ve always postponed this project because I knew it was going to be a huge challenge, and I never had enough time to transcribe the whole thing (yes, I’m not joking when I say the whole thing).

As you might imagine, it took me a while to break down every single instrument and memorize this massive amount of notes and chords. I recorded the videos on different days so I always had time to rehearse the next section, this is why sometimes there’s sunlight!

The intro was probably the hardest part to nail. I had to reverse the song, learn it backwards, record the video, and then flip it again.

This is definitely my ultimate tribute to ‎⁨‪@JasonBeckerOfficial‬ , my greatest inspiration in music and in life. I’ve always felt a deep connection with his music since the very beginning of my musical journey, and it’s just mind blowing how much I’ve learned from his music, his playing, and his life.

Over the last year I had the chance to meet him twice. I truly had the time of my life, and these memories will stay with me forever.
